About River Tubing or Kayaking

If you want to experience the thrill of a Balinese white-water river trip but prefer total solo control rather than sharing a large raft, our River Tubing/Kayaking tour offers the perfect aquatic escape. Running through a deep, pristine jungle canyon outside of Ubud, this specialized water sport activity places you directly into your own individual, heavy-duty inflatable tube or an ultra-stable solo kayak. This unique setup puts you completely in charge of your own line, allowing you to feel every swirl, splash, and bounce as you navigate a winding highway of clear, rushing mountain water.

Your river run takes place along a pristine, protected canyon waterway characterized by crystal-clear water and a dramatic jungle backdrop. After slipping into a fitted life jacket, secure helmet, and grabbing a double-bladed paddle or specialized hand paddles, you will launch into the river current. The course features an exciting series of Class I and II rapids, natural water slides, and tight rocky bottlenecks that will keep you spinning, bouncing, and laughing the entire way down. Professional river guides paddle right alongside the group in safety kayaks, providing helpful steering tips and ensuring everyone moves smoothly through the technical channels.

The distinct layout of the tubing canyon creates a deeply immersive wilderness experience. Because individual tubes and kayaks sit low in the water and require much less clearance than large group rafts, you can drift into narrow stone chambers, float beneath low-hanging jungle vines, and explore hidden corners of the river that are completely inaccessible to larger watercraft. Long, exciting drops through churning pools alternate with calm, peaceful stretches where you can lay back against your headrest, look up at wild monkeys swinging in the high canopy, and listen to the sounds of nature. The trip finishes at a private river dock equipped with hot showers and an open-air buffet restaurant.

Do’s and Don’ts

  • Do keep your elbows and arms inside the wide perimeter of your inflatable tube when squeezing through narrow rocky walls.
  • Do lean back and raise your hips slightly when sliding over shallow, rocky river sections to avoid scraping boulders.
  • Do use your double-bladed paddle smoothly to keep your kayak pointing straight down the center of rushing river channels.
  • Don’t try to link your tubes together or hold onto other riders while actively drifting down fast-moving rapids.
  • Don’t fight the river current if you spin backwards; stay calm, sit deep in your seat, and let the tube float naturally.

What To Do

  • Fit your safety helmet and life jacket before launching your solo inflatable tube into the cool river current.
  • Steer your own individual watercraft through a winding labyrinth of narrow stone walls and jungle cliffs.
  • Splash through a series of exciting, spinning Class I and II rapids and natural river water chutes.
  • Drift peacefully through quiet canyon chambers while watching for local wildlife in the high trees.
  • Head up to the basecamp station to rinse off in a hot shower and enjoy a hot buffet lunch over the river.
